Following the Body and Writing Poetry
by Lisa Marks
Caitlin Catley who trains with the Deep Democracy Institute, has joined me in Port Townsend where we are exploring our mutual passion for process work, sentient awareness and movement. Unable to attend Worldwork in Poland we decided to focus on Essence level Worldwork, trusting the dreaming to track what was unfolding and our non-local connection to impact the global field. The Earth was our partner in these explorations.
We worked with many experiences through awareness, movement, relationship and dreams. Sessions occurred almost daily, mostly in nature but also in the movement studio. We interacted with the Earth’s communications as they surfaced. These included feelings or movement in our bodies, rare Nuclear attack submarines, threatening groups of people, animals, weather and “messages” from ocean waters.
This poem was the outcome of our last day together and closed our connection with the Worldwork field.
Dancing with the Dead
Olympic Mountains strong to the West,
Cascades anchor the East.
We walk the sliver of sand
separating ocean waters
from humanity leaning into
a backbone of rock and soil.
The lama I never met
joins in communion,
task at hand so large
requiring the wisdom
of ones who have passed.
It can’t be done any other way
but to join forces with realms
beyond visioning.
As I write, I am accompanied
by mother, father, aunts and uncles,
beloved teachers gone before.
The client yesterday shared
the dead in her living room as
she danced her way to ecstasy.
In Warsaw, my friends uncovering
wounds long past, so healing continues
recalling the dead from unloved graves.
Once again, in the light of day,
we find the touch of each other
as we turn to face
rivers of rock reflecting sunlight.
Mountains circle, holding us in their embrace.
This town, in its beauty and tragedy,
a well sung Aria.
The dead dance in our circle
with gifts of understanding,
support for the river of light
flowing through us.
Not just you and me!
But each one of us, standing
upon soil, rock and bone,
across a planet purging horrors
in exchange for spaciousness and
a different way.
